When Salma became a Christian eight years ago, her parents punished her by forcing her to stay home, preventing her from attending school. Their resentment of her Christian faith goes so far that they won’t even eat dinner with her.
This month, we’re looking at how infinitely valuable our audience is to God, and how much more we can do for them than just airing Christian television programs. Through your partnership with SAT-7, you have been a friend to lonely believers, particularly a young woman in Morocco.
When Salma became a Christian eight years ago, her parents punished her by forcing her to stay home, preventing her from attending school. Their resentment of her Christian faith goes so far that they won’t even eat dinner with her.
She texts SAT-7 counselors, “My parents hate me. They call me ‘faithless’ but I don’t care about that. I think you know that Christians are so few in Morocco. I don’t have friends, so I want to communicate with you.”
Despite her hurting relationship with her parents, Salma says, “I love God and worship him. He is my shield. I am trying to make God’s love visible to my family although they treat me badly. I learned everything about my Christian faith from SAT-7.”
Salma finds fellowship and encouragement from watching SAT-7 and talking to Audience Relations counselors. She follows the biblical teaching program School of Christ, a sing-along show called Let’s Sing Together, Bedtime Bible Stories, and the live children’s show Why Is That?
These shows have provided Salma with an opportunity to share Christ with her family. Salma’s little sister watches the episodes with her, and her parents ask her questions about Bedtime Bible Stories.
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26
God loves Salma unconditionally. Thanks to your prayers and support, SAT-7 is spiritually feeding millions throughout the MENA region. How much more we can be than just a television network! We have the chance to be a friend to each person in our audience. The Bible says, “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother,” and many people are counting on it! (Proverbs 18:24)
Next week, we’ll reveal how you’ve been like family to our audience.
