The 2016 year ended on a low note for hurting families in the region. Fellow Christians marking the season of Advent lost their lives in the suicide bombing of a Cairo church. Thousands evacuated the rubble of East Aleppo, knowing that neither side is yet willing to make peace. Iraq and its allies launched a major operation to retake the Mosul area from so-called Islamic State, while Turkey – once the bright political and economic hope of the region – saw a failed coup, a return to authoritarianism, and bitter conflict with Kurdish separatists.
During these times, it is our honor to share with Middle Easterners that their worth and stability comes not from governments, but from God and His Word.
