Below are a handful of testimonies that were shared with SAT-7’s viewer support teams. Stories like this show the positive impact that SAT-7’s programming has on those living in the Middle East and North Africa.
An encounter with Christ
“I’d like to testify that God is at work everywhere, and that many people in my country from non-Christian backgrounds are accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour and growing deeper in Him because of your channel. I am one of them.”
Layla was 16 years old when so-called Islamic State attacked her village in 2014. She was too terrified to sleep for many days afterwards. But one night she fell asleep for ten minutes – and her life changed forever.
In her dream a man in white stood in front of her. His face was glowing. He took her hand in his and walked with her, assuring her that they were safe. He had been watching over the homes in the village for many years. He assured her that He would save them and would not abandon them.
Years later, people shared the Gospel with Layla in the same words that she had heard in her dream. She praises the Lord for accepting her, and for bringing her out of darkness into light. At first she did not have a Christian community, but then she discovered SAT-7 ARABIC. The viewer support team have helped her to persevere in her faith.
After they had had several conversations with her and answered her questions about the Gospel, she shared her testimony, blessed the team, and said, “Thank you. May the Lord bless you as you help pave the way for many to receive salvation and rejoice with your believing brothers and sisters. I am praying for God’s glory to fulfill you.”
The team made sure that Layla was connected with a spiritual mentor to disciple her. They are also praying that God will use her testimony to bring light and life to others.
A Moroccan shepherd seeks God’s heart
Tamer, a 30-year-old shepherd from Morocco, reached out in urgent need to SAT-7 ARABIC’s viewer support team on the channel’s Free Souls Facebook page.
“I really want to change, but where I live, people breathe sin. They don’t know the meaning of peace or safety, and all I see around me is the devil’s work in people’s hearts. There has never been a time where I needed God more than I do now. I desperately need Him to help me overcome my struggles with self and others.”
Tamer grew up in a non-Christian household and outwardly accepted the doctrines he was taught, but his heart and mind refused to believe them. He is grateful for technology that allowed him to discover the truth through social media. He watched a variety of programs on SAT-7 and realized that he did not know the true God.
The team encouraged Tamer and began explaining God’s works to him. After a while, they asked him if he understood who Jesus was and if he wanted to put his trust in Him for a new heart.
“Yes, Jesus gives the Spirit of truth and He is the Word of God,” he said. “I want to receive Him into my heart. How can I not receive Him who laid down his life for me?”
The team prayed with Tamer and started discipling him. They sent him a link to an online Bible, and discussed with him how God makes us a new creation, and how he can spend personal time communicating with God. Tamer is very responsive and passionate about his new faith, wanting to learn more about it. He would also like more people to hear about Christianity!
Overcoming evil with good
Deena, a Christian teenager from Iran, logs into the Church4Kids Instagram broadcast from SAT-7 PARS. Believers in Christ in Iran commonly face hostility and ostracism from their families and those around them, but God strengthens believers to respond to hatred with love. Deena shared her recent experience of doing this with Mariam, the presenter of Church4Kids.
“I’m still not used to my new school, and I find it hard to keep silent because the teacher always speaks ill of Jesus,” she said. “I speak lovingly to her about Jesus, and she gets angry, shouts at me and tells me ‘I know more than you do.’ I ask questions that she cannot answer, and for that reason she always marks me down, but I am not upset by it.”
Other people besides the teacher pick on Deena because of her faith. “At school, it feels like people know that I am a Christian and they want to bully me; you know what it’s like here. But it doesn’t matter; I am kind towards them, and many are surprised.”
In this challenging context, Deena deeply values the support she receives from Mariam through Church4Kids. “I love you, Auntie,” she said, “and there are so many things I want to say. I could talk to you forever!”
