One of SAT-7’s staff has received an international award for her faithful service to disadvantaged people in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Pauline Jaricot Award, given out annually by Christian charity Missio “to a woman in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Oceania who is a beacon of hope for others”, was presented to Juliana Sfeir for her work with SAT-7. After collecting a beautiful painted-glass memento during a visit to Missio’s headquarters in Germany, Juliana was quick to point out that the award belongs to everyone at SAT-7. She dedicated it personally to SAT-7’s CEO, Rita El-Mounayer.
But it was fitting that she should be the person to receive the award. SAT-7 ACADEMY Brand Manager since 2017, Juliana has overseen all of SAT-7 ACADEMY’s programs, even producing some of the most ambitious ones herself, including the flagship educational series My School and the innovative activity show Puzzle. These social impact programs continue to give dignity and hope to thousands of children in need, as well as helping parents and communities to work for the benefit of the next generation.
Juliana is also the Project Lead for the Lebanon Our Story project, which is harnessing the power of storytelling to propose a new way ahead for Lebanon that all its people can support, building bridges between the host community and refugees, and so encouraging their engagement with society.
A statement from Missio highlighted Juliana’s work of promoting peaceful co-existence in the region. “Great appreciation is due to Juliana Sfeir for her tireless commitment to tolerance and respect between cultures. SAT-7 brings people of different origins and faiths together to pave the way for dialogue.”
SAT-7 is uniquely positioned to make the love of God visible in the Middle East and North Africa, with its four channels beaming varied Christ-centred programming across the region 24 hours a day. Its social impact programming, highly accessible to people of all faiths and none, promotes values such as friendship, forgiveness, equality, and kindness.
Rita El-Mounayer, CEO of SAT-7, commented, “We at SAT-7 are deeply grateful to Missio for this award. It is a tribute to the work that Juliana and many others have done among us to promote education and social development among disadvantaged people in the countries where we broadcast. We greatly value our partnership with Missio in sharing the love of Christ in the Middle East and North Africa.”
